The Pokémon Abode

In 8th grade, I created and ran the 2nd largest Pokémon website on the internet. At its peak, it earned more than $2,000 a month. [More info]

The site got me invited to the Pokémon summit in San Francisco, where I spoke with the creators of Pokemon, repesenting my community.

I was in the Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout, with my final service project pictured above.

In undergrad, I served on the Staff & Executive Board for the Japanese American student union, building lifelong friends.

YMCA Reach and Rise Mentor Program

In San Francisco Chinatown, I currently mentor an at-risk student to provide the guidance I felt helped me as a youth.

Campaigning for Marriage Equality

As an ally, running the UCLA information booth at San Francisco's Pride 2015 Parade, shortly after same-sex marriage was legalized was exciting and humbling.

Traveling

Exploring new cultures, and the diversity of the world is a constant passion. I love traveling solo as well as with groups.

In August 2015 I ended up on the last train from Budapest to Vienna that allowed Syrian refugees, a moving experience.

I run 2-3 race events per year, up to half-marathons. I plan to run one in Brooklyn in the Spring of 2016.

Growing up within driving distance from Lake Tahoe, skiing and then snowboarding became one of my biggest hobbies.

I've been riding motorcycles for 10+ years, enjoying the California scenery and the feeling of adrenaline as well as control.

Stern's central location in Manhattan will help to further develop my creative and personal characteristics during my time there. New York City holds a distinct style, culture and atmosphere unrivaled by any other environment, and the community focus at Stern will help provide a diverse mix of backgrounds, expertise and viewpoints to collaborate within.

UCSD Holography Lab

I studied lasers in undergrad, and we created a projectable hologram that pops out of a piece of glass from a red laser.

UCLA MEMS Lab

I often worked in the microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and nanomaterials lab to demonstrate the next generation in materials technology.

UCLA Nanolab

In the image above, I etched my name into a piece of semiconductor with walls only nanometers thick.

UCLA Master's Research - Resistivity in GaAs Nanowires

My Master's project was a computer characterization of nanowires - at the nano scale, the world reacts differently. [Master's project slides]

Raytheon Engineering Rotation Program

I was part of a group of 10 engineers, selected for versatility, ambition and leadership potential to rotate around business roles.

Raytheon VIIRS

I worked on NASA's Joint Polar Satellite System, on "VIIRS" - an imaging satellite monitoring weather and the earth.

Raytheon VIIRS - Blue Marble

This image is a recreation of the famous "Blue Marble" shot taken by Apollo astronauts, using images taken from the first-generation VIIRS satellite.

RD Design - Web Development

As a side business starting in 2013, I re-approached web design and development and started making websites for small business clients to keep my coding abilities fresh.

IONSYS®

Working on IONSYS®, a non-invasive post-surgical pain medication delivery device, I discovered my passion for health technology.

MDCO - International Audits

I've been able to work globally through supplier audits, and have gained a great deal of experience working with international teams - right down to language and cultural gaps.

MDCO - IONSYS® App

I pushed to collaborate with others to design and create an iPad app - my first taste into product management.

MDCO - IONSYS Launch / Approval

Our IONSYS® device was approved by the FDA in April 2015. The device, and my app to help sell it, is making its way to hospitals across the country.

Post-MBA Goal: Product Management

Playing the role of cross-functional coordination as a product manager in health technology is my post-MBA goal.
